The village was peaceful, with golden fields of wheat swaying in the wind, and cottages with thatched roofs that smelled of warm bread and fresh apples. Just outside the village, a sparkling river ran through the valley, winding like a silver ribbon. Its water was clear and cool, and along its banks stood a great oak tree. This tree was unlike any other in the valley—it was the tallest, strongest, and most beautiful of them all.
