John 1 Children's Story
Bible Story based on John, Chapter 1
Long ago, before the mountains stood tall and the rivers began to flow, there was only silence and darkness. But in that silence, something wonderful stirred.
Leo the lion cub sat beneath a starry sky, his golden fur glowing in the moonlight. He looked up and asked, “Tala, where did everything come from?”
Tala, the wise owl, blinked slowly and said, “It all began with the Word.”
“The Word?” Leo tilted his head. “What’s that?”
Tala spread her wings and whispered, “The Word was with God. The Word was God. Before anything existed—before trees, stars, or even time—the Word was there.”
Leo’s eyes widened. “That sounds like magic!”
“It’s more than magic,” said Mira the deer, stepping softly from the trees. “The Word made everything. Every leaf, every breeze, even you and me.”
Zeke the squirrel bounced down from a branch. “Wait, wait! So the Word made nuts too?”
Jonas the turtle chuckled from his spot near the pond. “Yes, even nuts.”
Tala nodded. “The Word brought light into the world. And that light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never put it out.”
One morning, the forest buzzed with excitement. A traveler named John had arrived. He wasn’t like the others. He didn’t wear feathers or fur. He wore a robe and sandals and spoke with a voice like thunder and honey.
“I’m not the Light,” John said to the animals. “But I’ve come to tell you about the Light.”
Leo stepped forward. “You mean the Word?”
“Yes,” John smiled. “The Word is coming to live among you. He’s full of grace and truth.”
Zeke scratched his head. “But how will we know him?”
John pointed toward the sunrise. “He’s already here. You’ll see him soon.”
The animals looked at each other, puzzled but excited. The Word, who made the stars and trees, was coming to live with them?
That evening, as the sun dipped low, a gentle glow spread through the forest. The Word appeared—not as a giant or a king, but as a humble figure with kind eyes and a warm smile.
He walked among the animals, touching each one gently.
To Leo, he said, “You are brave.”
To Mira, “You are gentle.”
To Zeke, “You are joyful.”
To Jonas, “You are wise.”
To Tala, “You are watchful.”
The animals felt something they had never felt before—like sunshine inside their hearts.
“Who are you?” Leo asked.
“I am the Word,” the figure said. “I came to bring light and life.”
“But why would you come here?” Mira asked softly.
“Because I love you,” the Word replied. “And I want you to know the truth.”
From that day on, the forest changed. The animals no longer feared the dark. They sang songs of light and told stories of the Word.
Tala taught the young birds about the beginning of all things.
Mira led peaceful walks through the woods, reminding everyone of grace.
Zeke made up silly rhymes about truth and joy.
Jonas wrote poems on stones about wisdom and love.
And Leo? He roared with courage, telling everyone, “The Word lives with us!”
But not everyone believed. Some creatures stayed in the shadows, unsure and afraid.
The Word never forced them. He simply kept shining, waiting for them to come.
One night, Leo sat beside Tala again.
“Will the Word stay forever?” he asked.
Tala looked at the stars. “He came to show us the way. Some will follow, some won’t. But his light will never go out.”
Leo smiled. “Then I’ll follow him.”
Tala nodded. “Me too.”
And so did Mira, Zeke, Jonas, and many others.
The forest became a place of light, where truth and grace danced in every leaf and breeze.
And though the Word had come quietly, his presence changed everything.
The Word came to live among us—not just in the forest, but in every heart that welcomes him. He is the light that never fades, the truth that never changes, and the love that never ends.
